Turn off Fox “News”
This is personal and intended to be a direct message to my family, relatives, friends, and anyone else open to listening.
TURN OFF Fox “News.”
The quotations around the word “News,” are intended to highlight the simple fact that Fox is not a legitimate news organization even by the most basic sense of the word. They are a propaganda organization of the extreme right, intent solely on profiting from from the rise of nationalistic populism led by the ninety-one time indicted, former president Trump.
The question of Fox’s complicity in willfully and knowingly spreading lies about Trump winning the 2020 presidential election was answered when they paid three-quarters of a billion dollars to settle the defamation suit brought against them by Dominion Voting Systems. Why did they do it? The answer was given by Fox head, Rupert Murdoch; they didn’t want to lose market share, ratings, and profits by telling the truth and possibly offending their brainwashed audience.
The Republican party controlled by right-wing extremists is in complete disarray, unable to govern at a time when our two-party system of government most needs their participation for the good of the country and the world. Yet they blindly support and act on the wishes of a man who has been indicted by four grand juries who weighed the evidence presented before them and voted to indict the former president for federal crimes. Let’s be clear, neither Joe Biden, nor Attorney General Merrick Garland were directly involved in these indictments regardless of what the wannabe dictator Trump spouts from his lying lips as he does stand up routines at his political rallies. This is a man who denigrates U.S. leaders and praises the dictatorial likes of war criminal Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping of China and Kim Jong Un of North Korea, and most recently stated he considers Hezbollah “smart.”
And why? Because they represent what he wants for himself, to be President for Life. Make no mistake about it, if he succeeds in returning to the White House, he will never leave, and our country will descend into totalitarian control. As in the aforementioned dictatorships, any and all political opponents will be removed, most likely imprisoned or even killed and the constitution which our parents and grandparents fought for will be ripped up and replaced by the Trump doctrine of authoritarian control.
I am sure this piece will upset my family and may very well push them to break ties with me, but the time to be silent has passed. The truth needs to be spoken.
Just turn off Fox and start thinking like the free-thinking individual that you once were, and if my words aren’t enough to convince you, think about your father and mother and ask yourself what they would think about the possibility of us and future generations losing our democracy to a vindictive despot. Again, the most important word is THINK.
